Kabuki LEGO Man

I had intended to stop with this one, but I think I'll do a few more. I found some really swell wood-blocks to use as referance.

Kabuki Man, LEGO

This is the legendary Robin-Hood-of-Japan, Goemon Ishikawa. Many many many pop-culture tidbits have been made with this historical figure (a new movie for instance), and you guessed it, a Kabuki play. Well, several, actually. Only one is performed nowadays, and I swear to god, it is impossible to find a photograph of an actor in costume. So this one is relying on woodblock-prints of actors hundreds of years ago.

Kabuki LEGO WO-Mans!

This character, Kiyohime, is from a strange play called "Musume Dojoji." Originally a beautiful young girl, she turns into a fire-breathing snake when her lustful advances on a celibate priest are rejected. Pretty wild.

The hair indicates a woman, but in reality, it's a man in drag- he has tattoos of a criminal! Gasp!

Kabuki Man number 5

Kabuki man 5- I think I'll do another four, and then move on to another history- maybe Zulu/English wars or Hindu gods. We shall see!

In another bit of news (personal), I'm going to attempt to give up soda pop. Mostly for my health, partially for the money. We'll see how powerful my will power is!
